Direct Extension Dial
An optional feature that enables outside callers to dial an extension or Hunt Group directly, without waiting for the receptionist to transfer the call.

DID
Direct Inward Dial, service that transmits from the telephone company central office and routes incoming calls directly to the called extension, Calling Group, or outgoing line/trunk Pool, bypassing the system operator.

Distinctive Ringing
Users can select from three distinctive burst patterns in order to distinguish between various types of incoming calls (i.e. outside, intercom or transferred calls).

DSL
An abbreviation for digital subscriber line, a technology for bringing high-bandwidth information to homes and small businesses over ordinary copper telephone lines.

Do Not Disturb
A feature that prevents incoming calls from ringing at an extension.

Doorphone
An Avaya proprietary phone that call be wall mounted outside your office or in a lobby to allow visitors to alert any number of system extensions by pressing a button. The doorphone includes a speaker and microphone, to allow two-way conversation between the doorphone and the phone that answers.
