This dictionary has been set up to help you better understand the technical
"lingo" associated with voice and data communication. Simply

LAN
Local Area Network, a geographically-limited data communications system
for a specific user group. A LAN consists of a group of interconnected
computers which share applications, data, and peripheral devices such
as printers and CD-ROM drives for the local transport of data, video and
voice.Last Number Redial Redials the last outside number dialed (up to
28 characters).
Leased Line
A phone line that is rented for exclusive 24-hour, 7-days-a-week use from
your location to another location. The highest speed data connections
(e.g. T-1, DSL) require a leased line.
Line
The transmission path between your control unit and the local telephone
company's Central Office, used for incoming and outgoing calls.
Line Access Restriction
Restrict an extension from making or receiving calls on a specific line.
Line Reserve
A system feature that lets you reserve a busy line or pool so that your
phone beeps when that line or pool becomes free.
Live Call Screening
This voice messaging feature lets you hear the message being left in your
voice mailbox. If you choose to speak with the person leaving the message,
you can press a button or simply pick up your handset.
Local Loop
The copper lines which run between a customer's premises and a telephone
company's Central Office.
